Linda Mntambo quenches the thirst

Orlando Pirates star Linda Mntambo, through his foundation, has made a thirst-quenching contribution to some inspiring young footballers in the township.

We get into one of the least spoken about things regarding professional footballers, giving back!

While many South African stars both abroad and in the DStv Premiership generally give back to communities, it seems that this side to them usually goes unnoticed.

Many have been doing this through their foundations which are purely dedicated to that exact purpose. Mntambo plays his part without a question.

Scroll through the gallery above to see the goods that Linda Mntambo donated to a local group of young footballers

The donation

Well, the Pirates playmaker teamed up with mineral water company Aquelle and gave out some much-needed refreshments at a local soccer tournament.

Those who have played in such competitions will know that throats really get dry and thirst becomes real as the tournament continues.

It is also known that these kasi teams rely on waterboys to have as many bottles of water – which sometimes can be difficult as taps are away from the pitch, particularly at the gravel turfs.

The Pirates star posted the donation on his Instagram with a caption that read:

"On behalf of the Linda Mntambo Foundation, we would like to say thank you once again to Aquelle South Africa for your contribution. We are doing more with your support siyabonga."

Did you know?

Mntambo has scored in 50% of the matches he has played in the DStv Premiership this season, with three goals in six appearances, per Transfermarkt.

Your thoughts, please?

Who is currently Pirates' most important player?
