Newcastle United have given us a major throwback by signing a Mexican striker called Santiago Munoz, which is strikingly similar to the legendary character from the movie 'Goal'.
What happened?
The movie 'Goal' was about a Mexican striker called Santiago Munez, who came from humble beginnings and struggled after moving to Newcastle. But, he soon becomes a fan-favourite.
When the real Santiago Munoz started to gain attention for his scoring ability in Mexico, Newcastle's official Twitter account teased their supporters at the possibility of signing the striker.
On Monday afternoon, the Premier League outfit announced that they signed the 19-year-old and many have already taken to Twitter to express their disbelief and excitement at their side signing the real-life Muñoz.

Real-life Munoz
The Tyneside fans are hoping that the highly-rated teenager can have a similar impact that the fictional Santiago had in the film. As a youth international, he scored five goals for Mexico that helped them win the Concacaf Under-17 Championships in 2019.
He then made his club debut for Santos Laguna in the 2020/21 campaign and scored three goals in 13 league games, registering three assists according to the BBC.
Other fictional characters that came to life?
In 1994, Jonathan Coe's published a novel called 'What A Carve Up' with a central character called Michael Owen. Three years later, a Liverpool striker with the same name made his debut.
A similar story happened in 2007 when David Mitchell co-starred with Robert Webb in the film Magicians where he played the role of an illusionist called Harry Kane.
