Orlando Pirates completes a bit of business

Continuing on the trend of partnerships, Soweto giants Orlando Pirates have completed some business this week, though it isn't the keenly-awaited transfer deals.

Pirates officially announced their partnership with electronics and mobile communications company OPPO South Africa and the likes of Deon Hotto, Richard Ofori and Innocent Maela, among others, were all there to celebrate the big deal.

What Pirates had to say:

In a club statement, Pirates' brand and sponsorship manager Joseph Bertrand said: "Orlando Pirates is a Club with vast history yet very innovative and forward-thinking, some characteristics that we share with OPPO, a cutting-edge and globally acclaimed brand."

"That is why we are excited to welcome OPPO to the Pirates family and we are convinced that we are going to be able to show value to all the Orlando Pirates stakeholders through joint resources and inventiveness."

Oppo South Africa now joins a long list of major brands who are partners of the club, including Vodacom, Adidas, Carling Black Label and Ford.

Did you know?

According to various reports, Pirates has had deals with brands like Roman's Pizza, LG, Caltex, EA Sports, Aquelle, and USN.

OPPO also has relationships with big international clubs including FC Barcelona and AC Milan.
