Past and present South African footballers who are avid golfers

It does appear that a good number of former South African footballers are now avid golfers, with the likes of Jimmy Tau, Mark Williams, and Matthew Booth among those who have now switched to another sport.

While golf seems slightly more technical than football, one can agree that it is an attractive sport and one that seems to be ideal for former footballers who can no longer compete on the football pitch.

Tau and company are frequently on the golf course working on their swing and competitively playing against each other.

Although it is unclear whether or not some of them are competing professionally, it seems that these former ballers have and continue to invest a significant amount of time into golf, making it rather complicated to assume if they are playing the sport as an extramural or they are turning into professionals.

Other past and present stars who now seem to be fully invested in the sport include Cape Town City goalkeeper Darren Keet, Bidvest Wits legend Stanton Fredericks, and former English Premier League star, Shaun Bartlett.

Did you know?

All of the above-mentioned stars except Jimmy Tau, have all had stints playing overseas in countries like Russia, Greece, Switzerland, Belgium, England, and the United States of America.

Your thoughts, please?

Of all the stars mentioned in this article, which of them has had the best football career?
