Former Kaizer Chiefs star Siphiwe Tshabalala is upping his philanthropy game and hopes to be able to take youngsters abroad through his foundation.
'Shabba' is not only a local football icon but also does plenty of charity work, while also affording opportunities to aspiring young footballers through the Siphiwe Tshabalala Foundation.

The 35-year-old midfielder, who is currently without a club after leaving Turkish side Erzurumspor, has had to postpone his annual tournament due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

However, he is hoping that once the green light is given by government, the next edition will incorporate an experience of a lifetime for the young prospects.
"This year we are celebrating five years with our tournament for the youngsters, so it's been doing well," 'Shabba' told the SA Football Journalists' Association.

"We also invite coaches from development [academies] to come and identify talent, and some of the boys are now playing at development teams from the platform we gave them.
"We are planning also to select players, or perhaps even the winning team, and take them abroad to give them the exposure and opportunity to experience it at an early age.
"I got that opportunity when I was 34 – why not give a young South African boy that opportunity at age 12? So, those are the programmes that I'm busy with.

"I've also recently partnered with Mogale City Local Municipality, because my focus is around empowering youth with knowledge and guidance through sport, and to come up with entrepreneurship programmes as well.
"I'm really passionate about that. I want to change the game and obviously it's something I cannot do alone, I need the support.
"It's not about me. I'm not going to take the glory, it's about the collective. If I help someone, even just one, I go to bed a happy person with a heart that is full."
