SuperSport United star Siyabonga Nhlapo has joined a select few players in the DStv Premiership to pursue academic excellence while maintaining a professional career. Check it out!
What Happened?
According to a study done in 2020, over 40% of the world's professional footballers have gone bankrupt after retiring from the game and this has shed a big light on the future ballers to get an education.
For the players who are in the latter stages of their careers, they have tough decisions to make as to what they will do when the big time arrives.
Brains and brawn
One star who will have no concerns is the Matsatsantsa defender after he was recently pictured on Instagram in his graduation gear.
According to SuperSport United's social media, the baller has completed his Advanced Diploma In Sports Management at The VAAL University Of Technology.
A sports management diploma gives you an array of knowledge in areas such as sports marketing, sport /exercise technology and leisure/ recreation outcomes and research.
With Nhlapo closing in on his 34th birthday in December, the star is clearly thinking about life after football and it appears that the South African is looking to continue time in football once he retires.
Other stars who have also attained degrees during their playing days include Brylon Peterson who has a BSc degree in Mechanical Engineering and Sabelo Radebe while Percy Tau and Bernard Parker also have qualifications in their respective fields.
Your thoughts, please?
