Willard Katsande issues statement against gender-based violence GBV

Women in South Africa are living in fear over the ongoing murder and rape off women and children, a serious issue is that is reaching boiling point across the nation.

Katsande, who has become a social media influencer thanks largely to his unique fashion style over the period of lockdown, is now using his platform to assist the fight against the evil culture of abuse.

"Today I have special message to all men out there," Katsande said in a video on all his social media pages.

"For the past few days I've been hearing and reading news about men raping and killing women and children. This is enough, so today I decide to break my silence.

"These are our grannies, mothers, sisters and daughters. Me and you, we have a serious job to do in our socierty. Let's teach our sons how to treat women.

"Today, I decide to challenge all my colleagues to break their silence and spread the gospel. Some of these guys who are doing this, they look up to us. So I challenge you guys to break your silence."

Katsande tagged the likes of Itumeleng Khune and Siphiwe Tshabalala in his posts, urging them to follow suit and speak out against the issue.

Players such as Lebohang Maboe and Asavela Mbekile have already sent strong messages against gender-base violence.
