Chiefs bag third straight win, Bucs end winless run

Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 Sekhukhune United

Kaizer Chiefs made it three wins from three games in the DStv Diski Challenge with a 2-1 victory over Sekhukhune United at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Babina Noko were ahead at the break after Ntokozo Msimango got the opener in the middle of the first half and saw the Amakhosi right on the back-foot.

A penalty though brought Amakhosi back on level terms following interval and picked up the winner five minutes before the close of play.

Marumo Gallants FC 0-2 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates registered their first win of the season and ended a run of successive draws following a 2-0 victory over Marumo Gallants FC in Bloemfontein.

With no goals in the first half, the Buccaneers turned up afterwards and hit the front through none other than Mbekezeli Mbokazi.

The points were completely sealed by the Soweto giants as substitute Seth Green fired in the second in the latter stages to fulltime and led his side to their first victory of the season.

Mamelodi Sundowns 1-2 Magesi FC

Mamelodi Sundowns were denied three successive victories and instead suffered their first defeat of the season after going down 2-1 to Magesi FC.

The Brazilians made a perfect start to the season with successive wins and moved to the summit a stimulus which looked to continue after going ahead through Thulani Zandamela.

However, the new boys bounced back when Thulare Moetlo and a late spot-kick from Mahudu Raphesu secured all the points and send Masandawana empty handed.

AmaZulu 1-1 Polokwane

AmaZulu missed the opportunity to collect maximum points to see out their first win of the season as Polokwane City secured a late 1-1 draw.

Usuthu, who have now played three successive draws are yet to register a victory as Tebogo Mashigo's got the opener before Rise and Shine responded to share of the spoils.

Cape Town City 3-1 Stellenbosch FC

Title holders Stellenbosch FC suffered their first defeat of the season in the DStv Diski Challenge after going down 3-1 to Cape Town City in the provincial derby on Sunday.

The defending champions started like a house on fire in the opening few minutes through Faiz Abrahams, but City responded instantly as Shakeel April levelled.

It got worse for the two-time kings as their provincial rivals went further ahead all courtesy of a smart finish from Gabriel Amato before adding a third after the break.

SuperSport United 1-1 Chippa United

SuperSport United start to the campaign continued on the winless path following a tense 1-1 draw with Chippa United at the TUT Stadium.

This is the third successive stalemate for the 2022/23 champions, who hit the back of the net courtesy of Keenan Bezuidenhout.

As for Chippa, it's their first draw of the season having managed to pick up a win and a loss from their opening two matches.

Richards Bay FC 1-1 TS Galaxy

Richards Bay FC and TS Galaxy remained winless in the earlier parts of the new campaign after playing to a 1-1 draw in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

However, it's though the first point of the season for the Natal Rich Boys who halted a two-match losing start to the campaign whereas Galaxy snatched their second point of the season.
