Sundowns claim Tshwane Derby bragging rights

SuperSport United 1-2 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns moved up to second spot in the DStv Diski Challenge with a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over SuperSport United in the Tshwane derby on Saturday.

The loss ends the home side's five-match winning streak and also dropped out of the top-five to sit in sixth-place currently.

Thabang Makhubo pulled the host ahead after the opening stages, but Thulani Zandamela struck twice in the matter of minutes before the break and saw Masandawana to victory.

AmaZulu 1-3 Stellenbosch FC

AmaZulu's winless extended to six matches after suffering a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the table-topping Stellenbosch FC on the road.

The Maroons grabbed a second win on the trot to keep pace with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns, as a double from Langelihle Phili and Faiz Abrahams set the tone.

Usuthu did get one back ten minutes just before the end courtesy of second half substitute Bayanda Thabede, leaving Maroons to yet another triumph.

Magesi FC 1-0 Marumo Gallants FC

Marumo Gallants FC battle to get a win under the belt remained following a 1-0 loss against the debutants Magesi FC.

For Magesi, the victory comes on the back of a nine-match streak without a win and moved close to the top eight spot with Gallants in the bottom-two.

The winning strike happened ten minutes after kick-off and came in the form of a close-range strike from Clement Moshwane.

Kaizer Chiefs 0-0 Orlando Pirates – Abandoned

Polokwane City 0-1 Sekhukhune United

Sekhukhune United finished the year on a high after seeing off Polokwane City 1-0 out at the Dobsonville Stadium.

Rising star Jordan Marks bagged the winner right on the stroke of halftime from good combination play amongst others.

The result helped Babina Noko to ninth position on the table, with Rise and Shine a few positions further down the barrel.

Cape Town City 2-2 TS Galaxy

Cape Town City brought TS Galaxy's winning run of form to a close with a thorough 2-2 draw at the Malta Park Stadium in the final match of the year.

Goals from Kiyaam Carelse and Shakeel April were it all took for the Citizens to salvage a point against the persistent Rockets outfit.

The result has both the Citizens and Rockets in the top-five, with the former in fourth-place to the men from Mpumalanga sitting fifth.

Richards Bay FC 2-2 Golden Arrows

Richards Bay FC rallied from behind to hold Golden Arrows to a 2-2 draw in the KwaZulu-Natal derby encounter on home soil.

The Natal Rich Boys were on the back foot right from the start as Abafana Besthende raced to a two-goal lead in the opening five minutes of the clash.

Wandile Ngema halved the tally and popped up again in the dying minutes to secure a point for the home team.
