Mamelodi Sundowns 2-3 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates registered a seventh straight DStv Diski Challenge win after defeating Mamelodi Sundowns at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.

Bucs made their intentions clear inside the first 20 minutes through Boitumelo Radiopane and James Monyane before Riandre Vries gave Masandawana a glimmer of hope with a free-kick.

Radiopane claimed a brace late on before Kabelo Moagi handed Sundowns a lifeline, but the Buccaneers marched on to their seventh straight win and the Brazilians to a fourth successive loss.

Royal AM 5-4 Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs made a losing start to the year in the DStv Diski Challenge following a 5-4 defeat to Royal AM in an entertaining clash at the Harry Gwala Stadium on Saturday.

The Amakhosi trailed by two goals in the opening quarter courtesy of Philani Kumalo and an own-goal from Aden McCarthy before Mduduzi Tshabalala and Jordan Sampson reduced matters.

Oratile Molehe and Philani Cele though put AM clear again, but Tshabalala got a brace for his hat-trick in the process only for Ayabulela Maxwele to snatched winner right at the death.

Marumo Gallants FC 2-5 Chippa United

Chippa United maintained their fine run of form in the league as they recorded an emphatic 5-2 victory over Marumo Gallants FC in their first clash of the year.

A brace from Thulani Mini and further strikes from Azola Matrose, Keegan Malgas and Asanele Bonani set the visitors clear, with Chadley Jacobs and Monyepao on target for Marumo.

Maritzburg United 1-1 AmaZulu

Maritzburg United were forced to come from a goal down in the KwaZulu-Natal derby against AmaZulu to play out a 1-1 draw in Pietermaritzburg.

The Team of Choice experienced a set-back following the second half through Lankie Khoza before Phiwayinkosi Zuma forced the points to be shared.

Stellenbosch FC 2-0 TS Galaxy

Stellenbosch FC kicked off the start to their year with a comprehensive 2-0 victory over TS Galaxy at the Idas Valley Stadium to cement second spot.

The Maroons had the lead at the break through a finish from Roy-Keane Avontuur before their top scorer Fuad Johnson put them out of sight late on to end the Rockets' two-match winning run.

SuperSport United 1-1 Cape Town City

SuperSport United and Cape Town City restarted their campaign with a 1-1 draw at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.

Matsatsantsa, who finished 2021 with a win over Kaizer Chiefs, were ahead early on through Sibusiso Maziko but the Citizens hit back within minutes courtesy of Ashley Nel.

Baroka FC 1-0 Golden Arrows

Baroka FC left it late against Golden Arrows in their first match of the year following a 1-0 victory at the Dr Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.

Substitute Tristan Nikiradis netted the winner minutes to go with a goalless draw on the cards, as Arrows failed to build onto their previous win against Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sekhukhune United 2-2 Swallows FC

Sekhukhune United surrendered the lead twice to play out a 2-2 draw against the bottom-placed Swallows FC at the same venue.

Babina Noko made an energetic start and hit the front from the head of Nkululeko Hlongo, but Swallows levelled with a spot-kick from Tinyiko Sithole.

Sekhukhune restored their advantage though courtesy of Phaleng Mashego only for Felix Mabasa to draw matters level in the dying minutes.
