DStv Diski Challenge wrap

Orlando Pirates strengthened their grip on top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge after picking up a comprehensive 3-1 victory over Royal AM on the road.

Top scorer Boitumelo Radiopane opened proceedings early on before first half substitute Nkosinathi Temba made it two towards the closing periods of the second half.

Wingback Thabiso Monyane failed to make it three from the penalty spot, but Radiopane amended late on before AM drew one back from the spot.

Kaizer Chiefs' run of two successive wins in the DStv Diski Challenge were brought to a halt following a 2-1 loss against Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

The Team of Choice were ahead through Zakahle Ngcobo following a goalless first half, but Mduduzi Tshabalala brought the Glamour Boys level before the winner followed from Ashley Wyngaard.

Mamelodi Sundowns returned back to their winning ways in the league courtesy of a narrow 1-0 victory over Golden Arrows in Atteridgeville.

Sundowns, who were held to a goalless draw last week against Baroka FC, relied on a second half strike from Mfanafuthi Nxumalo to get over the line and jumped into fourth spot.

Chippa United maintained their top-three positioning on the table after shutting Baroka FC away with a 2-0 win at home.

Goals from Kamohelo Haola and Asanele Bonani were all it took the Chilli Boys to get the three points and a return to winning ways following last week's draw with TS Galaxy.

Following last week's loss to Royal AM, Stellenbosch FC got back to winning ways through a 1-0 victory over Sekhukhune United.

This triumph helped the Maroons to cement second spot even further, whilst Babina Noko's inconsistent run of form continues.

SuperSport United moved two places from eight to sixth spot on the table after registering a 1-0 win away to Cape Town City.

It is Matsatsantsa's third match without defeat, as Gape Moralo bagged the all important winner in the second half that left the Citizens in mid-table.
