Chiefs down Golden, Bucs overcome Maritzburg

Golden Arrows 0-2 Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs jumped up to the fourth spot on the DStv Diski Challenge table thanks to a 2-0 win over Golden Arrows at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Sunday morning.

Rising star Mfundo Vilakazi made the breakthrough with a solid finish at the end of the first half after Arrows struggled to manage their lines.

Young Neo Bohloko bagged the second around the closing minutes of the match and furthermore opened his account for the club.

Maritzburg United 0-2 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates continued their hunt for top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge after recording a 2-0 win over Maritzburg United at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium on Saturday.

The Buccaneers made their presence felt on five minutes through a delicate close-range finish from Mpumelelo Ndaba and steered the Soweto giants to the interval in the ascendancy.

As Maritzburg looked to stage a comeback, the Buccaneers doubled their lead when Ndaba ensured his brace off a pin-point ball and ended Maritzburg's four-match unbeaten streak.

Royal AM 1-1 AmaZulu

AmaZulu grabbed a late equaliser in the dying minutes to hold Royal AM to a 1-1 draw in the KwaZulu-Natal derby to remain within the top-half on the table.

Thwihli Thwahla got the ball rolling late in the first half courtesy of a well-taken finish by Sisanda Mbhele from a corner-kick and put his side on course for maximum points.

Royal AM were denied back-to-back wins as second half substitute Ayanda Dlama struck the leveller at the death to leave the host in the bottom-half on the table.

Swallows FC 3-0 TS Galaxy

Swallows FC returned to winning ways and jumped away from the dreaded bottom-two with a 3-0 drubbing over TS Galaxy.

The Dube Birds came off a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Royal AM last weekend before the Rockets played out an entertaining 2-2 draw against AmaZulu and thus remain in the mid-table bracket.

Chippa United 1-1 Marumo Gallants FC

Bottom-placed and the struggling Chippa United disappointing run of form continued after securing a 1-1 draw against Marumo Gallants FC.

The draw leaves the Chilli Boys at the bottom, while Gallants who come off an entertaining 6-4 defeat against SuperSport United jumped two places from 13 to 11th spot on the standings.

Cape Town City 8-3 Sekhukhune United

League leaders Cape Town City maintained top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge with an emphatic 8-3 victory over Sekhukhune United on Sunday morning.

City didn't register a win in their last match against Mamelodi Sundowns which finished 1-1, but were fired up against Babina Noko and returned to winning ways.

Despite a penalty from Simphiwe Mabena and further efforts from Tshepo Mashigo and Asekho Tiwani, the visitors weren't able to salvage something and remain bottom-half on the table.

Richards Bay FC 1-0 Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns were unable to edge closer to the top of the table following a last-gasp 1-0 loss against Richards Bay FC at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium in Claremont.

An own-goal in the final seconds of the match by Sundowns captain Sanele Khumalo while looking to make a clearance separated the two sides and helped Richards Bay to 13th spot on the table.

Stellenbosch FC 1-3 SuperSport United

SuperSport United cemented third-place through a 3-1 victory over the defending champions Stellenbosch FC at the Idas Valley Sports Ground.

Matsatsantsa broke the deadlock earlier on through a stunner from Shandre Campbell before Keenan Bezuidenhout made it two amidst the response from the Maroons.

The Tshwane outfit bagged a third and made the points safe inside the second period as a certain Bezuidenhout completed his brace.
