Sundowns thrash CT City in final Diski game

Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 SuperSport United

Newly-crowned DStv Diski Challenge champions SuperSport United came from behind in the last ten minutes to hold Kaizer Chiefs to a 1-1 draw at the Tuks Stadium on the final day on Saturday.

Omega Mdaka set the Amakhosi on their way to maximum points with the opener late in the second half, but Matsatsantsa wrestled back through Gape Morale and left the points shared.

For Chiefs, the point against the champions ensured that they end the campaign in the top-four and a further 12 points off Matsatsantsa.

Mamelodi Sundowns 4-1 Cape Town City

Mamelodi Sundowns staged a second half comeback to overcome Cape Town City 4-1 and ended the season in the top-half bracket.

City enjoyed a positive start as Kamvalethu Sapa broke the deadlock ten minutes from kick-off and managed to go in at the break in the ascendancy.

Masandawana bounced back strongly after the interval and levelled it up through a smart finish from Lulama Nxumalo 12 ten minutes in the second half.

The Brazilians continued take full control of matters and bagged a second soon thereafter all with an execution of Neo Mokoena.

As City looked to stage a comeback and pushed numbers up, Sundowns increased their tally courtesy of Siyanda Nyanga before an own-goal from Sphamandla Dondolo finished off the contest.

Orlando Pirates 2-0 Golden Arrows

Orlando Pirates assured the runners-up finish through a pretty comfortable 2-0 victory over Golden Arrows at the Rand Stadium.

After a disappointing goalless draw last weekend against Richards Bay FC, the Buccaneers were eager to redeem themselves and a low finish on the stroke of halftime by Seun Moremi gave them the lead.

Pirates extended their cushion just after the interval within nine minutes from the break from a powerful shot by Mpumelelo Ndaba and evidently helped secure the victory.

Stellenbosch FC 0-1 Sekhukhune United

Last season's champions Stellenbosch FC suffered back-to-back defeats to end the campaign in seventh spot after going down 1-0 to Sekhukhune United in the Winelands.

No team managed to go in at the break ahead in spite of the chances that came either end and moreover the evenly balanced encounter.

However, Babina Noko showed a nerve of steel midway in the second half and claimed the winner through Kutlwano Theoha and helped his side finish their season positively.

TS Galaxy 0-0 AmaZulu

AmaZulu failed to end the campaign on a winning note following a hard-fought goalless draw against TS Galaxy out at the Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale.

Usuthu, who encountered a 2-0 defeat against Kaizer Chiefs last Sunday, were unfortunately not able to get back to winning ways as Galaxy failed to secure consecutive wins to end the season on a high.

Maritzburg United 2-3 Royal AM

Maritzburg United poor run of results continued and lost 3-2 to Royal AM in the KwaZulu-Natal derby at the Harry Gwala Stadium.

These particular losses have contributed heavily to the Team of Choice down in 12th spot and now ended the season in that particular slot too following this loss to Thwihli Thwahla.

Royal AM, who held Mamelodi Sundowns last time out, finish their second in the Diski Challenge in the bottom-three positions.

Swallows FC 1-1 Marumo Gallants FC

Swallows FC overcame last Saturday's disappointing loss to the champions SuperSport United and finished the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Marumo Gallants FC.

Both teams didn't weren't able to hit the net in the first half, but turned it around after the break as efforts either end ensured a stalemate which leaves Swallows in the bottom-two and Gallants mid-table.

Chippa United 2-1 Richards Bay FC

Chippa United continued their late surge amidst the close of the campaign and recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Richards Bay FC.

Having sat at the bottom most of the campaign, the Chilli Boys put their disappointing run of form behind in the last three matches but finished the season at the bottom.
