Pirates drop more points, Chiefs return to winning ways

Stellenbosch FC 2-2 Orlando Pirates

Orlando Pirates' DStv Diski Challenge title hopes suffered another blow after drawing 2-2 with Orlando Pirates on Sunday.

Relebogile Ratomo broke the deadlock after a goalless first half, but the joy was short-lived this as the Maroons pulled level through Jaylen Trent.

Pirates regained the lead in the final ten minutes when Ratomo turned provider where he set Mpumelelo Ndaba in to rattle the back of the net.

The Maroons once again cancelled out the Sea Robbers effort in the final minute to full-time when a powerful drive by Shaun Morgan from a free-kick nestled in and had the spoils shared.

Richards Bay FC 2-1 Cape Town City

Cape Town City lost some ground with the league leaders SuperSport United following a 2-1 defeat to Richards Bay FC.

The Natal Rich Boys relied on Mfundi Ngema and another effort in the latter stages of the match by Siphephile Buthelezi to secure the points and leave the Citizens empty handed.

SuperSport United 2-1 Maritzburg United

SuperSport United continued to stretch their lead at the top of the DStv Diski Challenge after registering a 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United on Sunday.

Matsatsantsa were quick out of the starting blocks following kick-off and were ahead through Jabu Matsio before the Team of Choice rallied to draw level.

The host had the final say when Thabang Mahlangu picked up an assist from Shandre Campbell to guide in the back of an unguarded net.

Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 Swallows FC

Kaizer Chiefs returned to action in the DStv Diski Challenge and edged out Swallows FC 3-1 in a Soweto derby clash on Saturday.

Young starlet Neo Bohloko opened proceedings before Keviano Francis and Bafana Zitha added to their cushion and compounded the woes of the inconsistent Dube Birds.

The win helped the Amakhosi to continue closing the gap on the top-half, as the Dube Birds remain in treacherous territory.

Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 Sekhukhune United

Mamelodi Sundowns recorded back-to-back wins to continue reviving their campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Sekhukhune United.

The Brazilians are fresh from crushing Marumo Gallants FC 6-1, whilst an effort in the first half though settled matters with Babina Noko on this occasion.

Royal AM 3-4 Marumo Gallants FC

Marumo Gallants FC returned to winning ways after the humbling by Mamelodi Sundowns and clipped Royal AM 4-3 to solidify their spot in the bottom-half.

The intentions from the visitors were clear from the onset as Bafana Nkosi broke the deadlock before Molibedi Mokoena made it two.

Mokoena helped himself to a brace and in the wake of Thwihli Thwahla's response, the visitors extended their cushion through Mlungisi Mazibuko and ultimately sealed victory.

Golden Arrows 2-1 TS Galaxy

Golden Arrows got back on the winning path following a 2-1 victory over TS Galaxy and in the process cemented their spot in the top-eight.

Abafana Besthende posed the first danger a little in the first half courtesy of Samkelo Mzolo, but the Rockets replied through Danyaal Daya.

The host secured all the points ahead of full-time when Siyanda Mthanti popped up to finish beyond the opposite number and ended the clash as a contest.

Chippa United 0-1 AmaZulu

AmaZulu kept their spot in the top-four intact with a slender 1-0 win over the bottom-dwellers Chippa United out in the city of Gqeberha.

Sphamandla Zikhali's solitary finish was all the visitors from the KwaZulu-Natal province needed to take the maximum points and continue to dent Chippa's woes down the barrel.
