The Maroons thus leapfrogged Usuthu in second place on the back of this victory and also are now just four points adrift the table-toppers Cape Town City.

Bottom-placed TS Galaxy continued their woeful start to the season after going down 2-1 to Sekhukhune United at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in Mpumalanga.
After a goalless first half, the match came alive and two goals from Simphiwe Mabena amidst a reply from Galaxy helped the visitors to victory and a surge up the table.

Maritzburg United moved away from the bottom of the table with a comprehensive 4-2 victory over Richards Bay FC in the KwaZulu-Natal derby.

Abafana Besthende were ahead at the break through Samkelo Mzolo, but Fololo levelled following the interval and Asanele Bonani steered the Chilli Boys ahead a little thereafter.
Mzolo bagged a brace to bring matters all square before Lwazi Mgwaba found the winner in the remaining minutes and gave the host all three points.

Marumo Gallants FC got back to winning ways in the league after overcoming Swallows FC 3-1 at the Polokwane Rugby Field in the Limpopo province.
