Pirates thrash Marumo Gallants, Sundowns drop points

Kaizer Chiefs 1-1 TS Galaxy

Kaizer Chiefs once again dropped points from a winning position in the DStv Diski Challenge in a 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy at the Wits Football Stadium on Saturday.

It is a back-to-back draw for the Amakhosi following last weekend's entertaining 3-3 stalemate with Royal AM, as Wandile Duba made the breakthrough in the second half for the Glamour Boys.

Galaxy, who are at the bottom of the table and yet to record a win, drew level minutes before time when Banele Nkosi fired in from the penalty spot.

Mamelodi Sundowns 2-2 Richards Bay FC

Mamelodi Sundowns had to cut a halftime deficit to hold the new boys Richards Boys FC to a thrilling 2-2 draw in Braamfontein.

Jerome Karelese made the breakthrough following a defensive lapse, but Langelihle Mhlongo and Yanela Mbuthuma cancelled the forward's effort before Ofentse Mashiane forced a stalemate.

Orlando Pirates 4-1 Marumo Gallants FC

Orlando Pirates recorded back-to-back wins and moved further up the table following a 4-1 triumph over Marumo Gallants FC.

The Buccaneers raced to a quick two-goal lead through Gomolemo Khoto and Njabulo Mndebelele before Relebohile Ratomo and Mehluleli Maphumulo added two more for the host.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa got a consolation in the dying stages when Sbusiso Nkosi tucked away from the penalty spot following a coming-together in the area.

Chippa United 1-5 SuperSport United

SuperSport United strengthened their grip in the top-five after crushing a hapless and second-bottom outfit Chippa United 5-1 in Gqeberha.

Five efforts in the second half in a brace from Shandre Campbell, Keenan Bezuidenhout, Sibusiso Maziko and Mpho Mahlangu guided Matsatsantsa to the resounding triumph.

Maritzburg United 1-2 AmaZulu

AmaZulu bagged the bragging rights in the KwaZulu-Natal with a 2-1 victory over Maritzburg United at the Harry Gwala Stadium in Pietermaritzburg.

Mlungisi Mahaye handed Usuthu the lead front foot early on before the Team of Choice levelled only for Wandile Shelembe to find the winner in the closing minutes of the first half.

Cape Town City 2-2 Golden Arrows

Cape Town City weren't able to get back to winning ways in the Diski Challenge following an entertaining 2-2 draw against Golden Arrows on Sunday.

Goals in either half by Sabelo Duma couldn't guide Abafana Besthende to maximum points, as City clawed back and forced a share of the spoils.

Sundowns could've secured all the points though with a spot-kick in the final stages, but Rhian de Vries was unable to profit.

Sekhukhune United 3-1 Swallows FC

Sekhukhune United jumped into the top eight for the first time this season courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Swallows FC at the Wits Football Stadium in Braamfontein.

Tshepo Mashigo give Babina Noko the ideal start before a stunning free-kick by Asekho Tiwani extended their advantage in the opening minutes of the first half.

Swallows pulled one back shortly thereafter through Ian Makaringe, but Babina Noko restored their two-goal cushion on the cusp of halftime courtesy of Leonardo Rooi.

Other result:

Royal AM 0-4 Stellenbosch FC
