Kaizer Chiefs advance to DStv Diski Shield final

Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch will meet in the DStv Diski Shield final next weekend.

The inaugural Diski Shield kicked off last week with the quarter-finals, as Chiefs edged SuperSport United in a six-goal thriller while Stellies eliminated Maritzburg United.

The first semi-final of the day saw Diski Challenge champions Stellnbosch take on Chippa United on Saturday morning at the Giant Stadium.

It was the men from the Western Cape who got the job done on the day, as Mervin Boji's penalty in the 70th minute sealed a 1-0 win and their spot in the final.

Stellies will now look ahead to a battle against Chiefs, who defeated Mamelodi Sundowns 2-0 in the second semi-final.

The highly-rated Mduduzi Shabalala gave Chiefs the lead after converting a penalty, which he won in the 29th minute.

The Soweto giants wrapped up proceedings with 16 minutes left as Shabalala turned provider to play in Wandile Duba who slotted past Sizwe Ramabulane.

The final is scheduled to take place next Saturday at the Mpumalanga Stadium.
