HOW? Fake baller scams UCL club into contract offer

Meet the fake footballer who almost scammed a UEFA Champions League club into signing him. Check it out!

What Happened?

Some people would do almost anything to play football professionally, but this player went to far.

Frenchman Gregoire Akcelrod is the culprit as he devised a plan which included a fake CV and a website filled with made-up match reports to Europe's biggest clubs.

It went so far that he even convinced a Champions League club to offer him a £15 000 (R315 000) a month contract.

While Akcelrod dreamed of being a baller since the age of 10, his father thought he was so bad that he banned his son from playing.

This was when he decided to make his dream come true despite his dad's negative opinion.

The young Akcelrod went on to trick Norwich, Bournemouth and Swindon into offering him a trial while he also got an offer from CSKA Sofia who were in the UCL at the time.

How did he convince them?

Well Akcelrod claimed he was a Paris Saint-Germain reserve player and copied the match reports onto his website but would replace the striker's name and put his own there.

The information was not a complete lie as Akcelrod was playing for PSG but for the amateur side in the bottom tier of French football - a level he described as "the worst in France".

At this point, the baller was cut off by his affluent family for choosing football over a proper career or education.
