Soul Candi Selekotor Series: Pretoria Edition

The talented trio from the home of the Union Buildings, Malankane, Miggs Foreal and Funk Deepstar, bring their passion and skills to the fore with this 3-in-1 debut album release.

Malankane has been an avid vinyl collector since the 90s. After ditching a course in tourism, he decided to make music a full-time occupation which included a stint a record store in Sunnyside Pretoria. He has since played with the best local and international DJs along with the two albums he’s produced thus far. On Malakane’s disc, house heads can look forward to tracks such as the Atjazz remix of Osunlade’s “Human Beings” and Luke Dave’s Jovial remix of Meisha Moore’s “Kiss You All Over”.

Miggs Foreal began his musical journey in the late 90s after his DJ buddies Bubbles and Nastee Nev gave him a taste of house music, which would later define his path in the genre. Miggs is not only a gifted ‘selektor’ but is also involved behind the scenes as one of the organisers of ‘The Foreal Dance Music Conference’ in addition to hosting a shown on Tshwane TV. Miggs has selected a combination of local and international tracks such as and the DMalice remix of Kid Fonque’s hit track “Be”, along with his own productions.

Funk Deepstar has developed a following for his soulful selections on the decks. Naming the likes of Metro FM’s DJ Glen Lewis as early influences in the 90s, Funk Deepstar began performing at school functions and local clubs before pursuing a qualification in sound engineering in Johannesburg. Since then, the DJ has released two albums and played at premium events across South Africa. He completes the trilogy of discs on the Selektor’s Series with tracks such as “Angel in Love” from Beebar, a vocal remix of “Don’t Hold Back on Love” from Eric Erricksson Reel People ft Debra Debs as well as one of his own production “Hey Love”.

The album will be released officially on the 20th of June 2014 but will be available digitally a week prior on iTunes.
