Arrows not giving up in Larsen chase

KickOff has learned that Golden Arrows have not stopped making enquiries about the availability of coach Clinton Larsen as they prepare for a season in which they hope to do much better than last term.

As reported by this website on Wednesday, arrows are currently searching for a new head coach following the sudden departure of Steve Komphela, who was wooed back to Mamelodi Sundowns to take up a cushy senior coach job.

Mabhudi Khenyeza and Musa Bilankulu, formerly on the club's books as players, are currently holding the fort.

Abafana Bes'thende boss, Mato Madlala, is believed to be considering offering Larsen the head coach position for her club this coming season.

Larsen is currently with Magesi FC after helping them win promotion to PSL at the end of last season.

According to a source close to Arrows, Larsen has emerged as a hot favourite to take over as head coach position at the Durban-based outfit.

"Mato Madlala is still considering a few options. At the moment, Clinton Larsen is the favorite to take over," said the source.

Whether the experienced coach is willing to jump from the Magesi FC project, after having promoted the club from the Motsepe Foundation Championship, remains to be seen.

In the aforementioned article that appeared on this website, it was revealed that Larsen had been head-hunted by Arrows, and he even went as far as making demands to Magesi management over the signings he wanted, with threats that he would take up an offer to re-join the KZN side if these were not met.

This, after the club announced 12 departures.

It is believed Abafana Bes'thende are biding their time and could strike just in time for the new season, beginning on 14 September, in order to land their target.

Arrows have already signed Menzi Masuku from Royal AM in preparations for the new season.
