Arrows coach issues verdict on Makhubela

Orlando Pirates loanee Ntsako Makhubela has received praise from Golden Arrows co-head coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi after helping the Durban-based side secure a crucial 2-1 win over SuperSport United.

After over five months without tasting competitive action, Makhubela sealed a loan move to his former side Abafana Bes'thende in the first week of January and waisted no time in settling in, starting for Vilakazi's side against Matsatsantsa on Saturday.

"He [Makhubela] did very well," said Vilakazi after the game.

"He lost steam towards the end, it was bound [to happen] because we knew he would struggle with match fitness."

Makhubela had his first stint with Arrows in 2018, where he contributed four goals and three assists during his two-year stay and certified himself as a crowd favourite – prompting the Buccaneers to resign him in 2021.

"But the reason we chose to start him is because he is an Arrows player and when he arrived, he gave us something. We wanted to use players that are mobile going forward because we were playing against a team that cannot match us when it comes to combination play.

"His contribution was immense and we can only build from here. We're still going to see the best of Ntsako."

The loss was a first for SuperSport in seven matches while Arrows collected their second win in five matches, climbing up to sixth on the DStv Premiership table.

Neverdie may go toe-to-toe with his parent side Orlando Pirates when Abafana Bes'thende lock horns with the Buccaneers at the Orlando Stadium in Soweto on Saturday.
