Arrows Coach bemoans slow start against Chiefs

Golden Arrows co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi bemoaned the side's lack of concentration after suffering defeat to Kaizer Chiefs.

Goals from Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana and Edmilson Dove in the first half proved enough to close the Amakhosi's year on a high note in Durban.

"We lost the game in the first 15 minutes. I think it is something that we always stress as coaches for players to always focus and I think coming in the four lines you always need to know that you have an assignment ahead of you," Vilakazi told SuperSport TV.

"But I think we lacked concentration and double the effort in terms of coming back and stuff like that but we had that hope because they scored two goals in the 45 minutes.

"And we had the 45 minutes in the second half but we decided to shut the door and make sure that there is no room for errors and try to focus more in creating scoring opportunities and score.

"I think we created a few, we hit the post twice but I cannot falter the effort and hard work from the players but I still think we need to focus on the game and not allow the opposition to score silly goals," the former striker added.

However, Abafana Besthende were a different proposition in the second stanza following a disjointed opening spell and on a few instances had the Amakhosi on a knife edge.

"It's what I have been saying that players have to focus. At halftime, we had a chance to talk about it and try to rectify a few areas for players to focus and not to concede.

"I know Sifiso made a save and a good save for that matter, but I think our defensive structure was proper second half but we shouldn't allow the opposition to score first.

"Because in many of our games it's something we have to work on because we allow the opposition to score first and they score out of nowhere because this was not the best Chiefs we know.

"I think today they only relied a lot on individual brilliance and they punished us like that but it's water under the bridge- it's fine we going back to the drawing board and try to rectify and sort this thing of conceding," Vilakazi stated.
