In this week's edition of Supporters Forum, KickOff speaks to Lamontville Golden Arrows die-hard supporter Sithembiso Ximba about his long-standing affair with Abafana Bes'thende.
The former security officer reveals how he ended up supporting the KwaZulu-Natal-based club.
Name of supporter?
"My real name is Sithembiso Ximba. The late music legend Vusi Ximba is my grandfather.
"I'm full-time based in Lamontville. I was a security officer, but I lost my job in June due to retrenchment.
"The company relocated to Johannesburg, and I couldn't go with them, I couldn't leave the township."
Club supported?
"I have always supported Arrows. To us, it's not about supporting a football team, but it's about supporting the history of the township.
"We are trying all we can not to lose hope. We believe that one day, things will work out exactly as planned.
"In Lamontville, we don't have money, so we hustle. You can tell from a distance if a person from Lamontville, even the way we walk, differs from the way people from other townships do things. We love our team here."
How long supported?
"It's been 35 years now."
Are you happy with the bosses?
"In football, you can't be happy. We just support our teams. You can't chase happiness because one day you will be disappointed. So, in football, there will always be disappointments. I'm happy with the growth of the team."
Are you happy with the coach?
"Mabhudi Khenyeza has been around. So, judging him would be an injustice. He is privileged to have gotten the opportunity."
Are you happy with the players?
"I am happy; if there was a complaint, it would have been all over the social media. I'm happy with my team I can't complain."
Who do you want them to sign?
"Nobody. I want us to continue promoting youngsters from the development. I believe that's the only way we can grow our football. I don't want to demand more, I'm happy with the club's current situation."
Your message to the team?
"Let's not give up, Abafana Bes'thende will always be around. As long as you are still dreaming anything is possible."
