Arthur Zwane has defended the club's approach of recruiting players following an influx of trialists instead of employing a modern scouting system.
Chiefs' last signing Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana – now the league's joint leading scorer – was only signed after being invited for an assessment after which Zwane decided at first to turn down.

Through the month of December, Chiefs invited Congolese forward Christian Saile Basomboli, Mozambican attacking midfielder Amansio Joao Pita 'Neymar' Canhembe, German-born Italian defender Maurizio Macorig, and German-born Mozambican forward Stanely Ratifo.

None of them have been signed yet though Saile is set to join with the club thin up front.
"To be honest with you we are not conducting trials," says Zwane in response to a question related to trialists from KickOff.
"All the players that you have seen coming to try their luck, we profile them first, but we wanted to see them closely.
"We wanted to monitor them closely and be sure about what we are doing because you can see a player performing elsewhere on footage yet that was two years ago, yet it will be presented as if it is happening right now.
"So, we try and follow that player and do proper research about that individual so that as soon as he comes here, we know what we are looking for.

"If he is a striker, they will only show him scoring goals and only his one versus ones if he is a defensive midfielder, but you don't see many other aspects that can make the player come and add value.
"Those are not the things we are looking for so that is why we have taken that route of inviting those players.
"We are not doing trials.
"It is a case of we want to assess him and have a closer look so that we can decide.
"It is best for us right now because we have brought in players in the past after profiling them but when they come here Kaizer Chiefs is a different beast and when they arrive here and the pressure mounts, they can't cope, and the club suffers again because we have to go for other players again.

"So, we are trying to avoid that.
"We can't repeat the same mistakes many times as if we don't see what is happening, so we are trying to avoid that in actual fact," explains Zwane adding that he has submitted his reports to management.
"When it comes to trialists I give my technical report to the management of the club and they will obviously get back to us as the technical team and so we wait for that because it is a process," Zwane added.
