Arthur Zwane explains where it's gone wrong for Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane believes Amakhosi have not necessarily been bettered by opposition but have rather been victims of their own mistakes.

After eight games played, Chiefs find themselves in the relegations zone with just two wins to show from their eight outings so far.

Where Amakhosi fans see a crisis, head coach Arthur Zwane believes the log may not be a true reflection of his sides' performances, that  they're loses have come from errors rather than poor form.

"When you look at all the teams we played against and you look at the number of chances they created, except maybe for Sundowns, where we conceded four goals. Many other teams have, I think, two [chances]. Others had, maybe one," Zwane said.

"When you look at the goals we're conceding, it's because of our own mistakes. We are a work in progress."

Zwane's assessment may be vindicated. It was an error from Siyabonga Ngezana that handed Mamelodi Sundowns an early lead in a match that ended with Amakhosi at the receiving of a 4-0 slapping from the defending champions.

It was also a missed penalty by Dillon Solomons that pushed Chiefs to settle for a point against AmaZulu, a game Chiefs dominated in terms of possession and chances created.

"When you look at positives. Against AmaZulu, the best front three for me, how many chances did they create? Except maybe one mistake from the left then they had nothing. Then you look at our chances, we missed a penalty. It wasn't to be on the day," Zwane added.

Chiefs will be hoping to iron out the errors when they host SuperSport United at the FNB stadium in Soweto this Saturday.

After struggling at the start of the season, Matsatsantsa look to be finding their rhythm, having only lost on of their last five matches.
