Zwane provides update on Chiefs' hunt for added striker power

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed that the side is currently in the market for a striker in the January transfer window, with two having recently trialed at Naturena.

Chiefs currently have Caleb Bimenyimana and Ashely Du Preez as their main strikers, but injuries have forced Zwane to turn to academy graduate Wandile Duba, as well as explore the market for another striker.

Du Preez has managed to find the back of the net just twice and provided two assists this season. He was unavailable against Golden Arrows as he nurses an injury.

Although Bimenyimana has scored a league-high of seven goals, his two injuries since his arrival - the latest against Arrows, have exposed the frailty of Zwane's attacking line.

The 49-year-old coach was not shy to admit that another option upfront was needed, but warned that he and his technical team would not be easily charmed.

"Realistically, we're looking for a striker," Zwane said.

"If we get a striker then yes, but a striker that will come and add value, a striker that can help the likes of Duba in growing, not a player that will just come to add numbers.

"If we don't get the quality that we're looking for, we'd rather play Duba, he'll grow and score goals just as he's been doing in the DDC."

Amakhosi welcomed several players who have all been trying their luck at Naturena in recent weeks.

The list includes Congolese striker Christian Basomboli and German-born forward Stanley Ratifo.

All assessments have reportedly been put on hold.
