Johnson explains heated Petersen exchange

Head coach Cavin Johnson has addressed viral footage of what appeared to be an altercation with goalkeeper Brandon Petersen following Kaizer Chiefs' defeat to rivals Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby.

Amakhosi fell 3-2 to The Buccaneers in front of a sold-out crowd at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Chiefs had opened the scoring through Ashley Du Preez before Pirates respond through Monnapule Saleng.

Du Preez put Chiefs ahead once more in the second just before half-time but Pirates would level matters on the hour stroke through Thabiso Lebitso.

Saleng put Amakhosi to the sword with second goal for himself  in the 68th minute and third for Pirates to seal a memorable victory.

Shortly after the game footage, emerged of Johnson seemingly in a war of words with Petersen and has gone viral on social media raising questions of internal within the Chiefs camp.

However, Speaking at the post-match press conference, Johnson dismissed suggestions of disharmony and cleared the air on the exchange with the goal keeper.

"It was a normal chat with the coach, 'coach we lost the game,' why do we have to fight? It's normal," Johnson said.

"Did you see Kevin De Bruyne tell Pep Guardiola to shut up? It's normal. I want my players to react when we lose"I want them to react, and if they react to me then I take all that  on my shoulder because tomorrow I will fix up all that whatever the reaction is ad that is football.

"I don't want them to be mouses. They have to be people that can come and question me. I have to question them because in front of a hundred thousand people no one can hear each other. It's only the eleven players on the pitch that have to work.

The loss spells more trouble for Chiefs who miss out on a chance to climb into the top four, while Pirates climb to second spot.
