Johnson: Vilakazi will get more game time

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has promised teenage attacker Mfundo Vilakazi more game time in the last two games after a 1-1 draw against AmaZulu.

Chiefs early goal by Ashley Du Preez was cancelled out by Victor Letsoalo for AmaZulu just before the half-time break, as the sides shared the spoils.

"Ja when you think about the game and the first thing you say is who's the Man of the Match? And it's the goalkeeper (Veli Mothwa), it shows you how much possession we had," Johnson said on SuperSport.

"I thought we started the game probably not as nice as we would have liked to have but the breakaways we had we should have scored them and we get a goal again against us, I thought it was a free-kick beforehand and my players switched off, which is not normal, he gets a good cross in the box and we give away a cheap goal.

"I think also we (should have) got a penalty along the way after that and he does not give a penalty, he does not give a red-card, so there's a lot that we can take from that.

"The best one for me was towards the end, Ashley should have buried that, Mothwa is on the way. Second time (Christian) Saile comes, kicks the near post and he saves the game. I thought the boys put a big effort and I hope it looked better on TV and I'm sure we came out to win the game (but) we didn't," he said.

Chiefs will be fighting to qualify for the top eight in their last two games and Johnson suggested that he was excited as fans at Moses Mabhida Stadium to see 18-year-old Mfundo Vilakazi come on in the closing stages.

"We drew the last game, we drew this one, we put in the effort, we're not scoring goals, we have to be a lot calmer in front of goal, let's enjoy it. You look 'Obrigado' (Vilakazi) when he came on to the pitch, he loves football and ja he'll get more time," he added.
