'We are all not perfect' - Johnson weighs in on Khune

Kaizer Chiefs interim head coach Cavin Johnson has added his voice to the club's decision to suspend captain and goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

Chiefs announced on Thursday that the club had decided the experienced shot-stopper would be 'temporarily separated' from the team following an internal investigation.

This came after multiple reports surfaced allegedly that Khune had been guilty of a number of transgressions at the Naturena-based club, including reporting for training under the influence of alcohol.

Speaking at the post-match press conference after Chiefs' win 1-0 win over Polokwane City, Johnson insisted that Khune remains 'a big part of the team'.

"That is something that has to be big, big, big credited to the management of this team and that doesn't mean Cavin Johnson.

"It means Jessica [Motaung], it means Kaizer [Motaung Jr], it means Kemiso [Motaung], it means Gerald [Sibeko], it means Bobby [Motaung], it means Vina [Maphosa]. All of us put together, how the club within inside the village is able to control that type of news," Johnson said.

"Itu is a big part of this team but in the end, we were able to calm the players and make sure that they realised what was happening.

"All of us are not perfect, that's the one thing we have to know. Whatever happens to some of our players or whatever happens to some of the players outside, whatever happens to players after they play, we are all not perfect," Johnson added.

"Things happen like this and we're just grateful that you work for an organisation like Kaizer Chiefs and they are able to say, 'You know what we will help you'.

"So, that's what I am grateful for, that the club statement says: 'We are going to help you'. I told you once before, that this club is run by a man who should be walking with presidents."

While Khune's long-term fate remains in the air, as the 36-year-old is on the verge of entering the last six months of the current deal with Amakhosi, the Soweto giants will return to action when they take on Richards Bay on Saturday, 23 December.
