Time has swallowed close to 12 weeks since Chiefs ended the disaster of last season with the period to the start of the new campaign now dropping to under a month.
Chiefs fans have only watched their team in action only once since May 25 but that was in a pre-season friendly named the Toyota Cup which they lost with a heavy score.
Amakhosi know too well that the Betway Premiership is what will provide the yardstick to what Nabi has done throughout the protracted pre-season.
September 14 – the date of their first game against Marumo Gallants – is now four weeks away, yet so much is still pending on the transfer market.
Signings have been made with Fiacre Ntwari, Rushwin Dortley, Bongani Sam and Gaston Sirino all signed, while Inacio Miguel is also on his way in.
Even with all these acquisitions, the Soweto giants are still not done and will stretch their hands all the way until the last day of the transfer window on September 20.
Nabi has made his intentions clear, with it being no secret that he needs a number nine, and that hunt remains alive.
