Chiefs’ interest in new Yanga striker confirmed

With Kaizer Chiefs having announced the appointment of Nasredddine Nabi, it has now been claimed that AmaKhosi were also keen on a striker that has now joined Young Africans in Tanzania.

Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube is the player in question.

Dube spent time at SuperSport United after joining from Highlanders in June 2017 but struggled so bad he was then sent on loan to Black Leopards.

His time at Leopards also didn't work out and he ended up moving back home from where he then joined Azam four years ago.

In Tanzania, Dube has grown into a respected striker earning him a move to Yanga on a USD275 000 (approx. R4,96 million) transfer that came with its own share of controversy.

Contractual issues meant Dube's move from Azam was laced with both doubts and confusion after he made demands to leave and was told to himself out.

"With regards to Prince Dube's move to Young Africans I will not comment and that is for professional reasons," FIFA registered agent George Deda tells Zimbabwean publication The Chronicle.

"What I can confirm is that Kaizer Chiefs reached out to me asking about the availability of the player.

"It's true that Kaizer Chiefs were chasing him.

"I also told Prince Dube about that.

"His Kaizer Chiefs pending deal could not be concluded in time as the club had no coach.

"The new Kaizer Chiefs coach (Nasreddine Nabi) knew about Prince.

"A lot has happened in the last six months but I'm still Prince Dube's agent," says Deda.
