Itumeleng Khune will go into the New Year faced with a 'migraine headache' as his contract enters the last six months at Kaizer Chiefs.
Khune has had little to be proud of this season with his case worsened by that he is currently serving a suspension for transgressing club protocol following allegations that he reported for duty under the influence of alcohol.

With Chiefs having already stated that this will be his last playing contract at the club, this has left the veteran goalkeeper's future in jeopardy after clocking 20 years in the first team.
While Chiefs will still have another 16 league games and a minimum of one Nedbank Cup match, chances of Khune playing again are not guaranteed and appear slim especially with Bruce Bvuma having kept consecutive clean sheets in his two appearances to date.
This means when the 36-year-old returns to training after serving his suspension, he will have to start at the back of the queue behind both Bvuma and Brandon Petersen.
The weight of the contracts that Khune has had since the 2010 World Cup have made his situation sensitive as he has been amongst the better earners at the club.
If he decides to continue playing and Chiefs doesn't offer that platform then it might mean Khune has to wear the colours of another club for the first time.
That will mean he now has to deal with issues of change of environment and drop in earnings.

Khune has only played 41 of the last 154 games for Chiefs.
His game count has come at the expense of 50 goals conceded and has failed to keep a clean sheet in his last 10 appearances.
