Chiefs legend: Sundowns doesn't scare me

Former Kaizer Chiefs left-back par excellence, Gardner Seale, has full confidence in the Naturena-based outfit getting the job done against Mamelodi Sundowns when the two giants meet in the Carling Knockout quarterfinals.

The upcoming cup clash between the two sides has been dubbed the 'final before the final'.

According to a voting poll currently run by this website, 47% of the readers who participated believe the fixture came at the right time for an Amakhosi revenge after losing to Manqoba Mngqithi's men 2-1 in the league recently.

29% believe The Brazilians will be too strong for their rejuvenated opponents, while 24% sat on the fence.

Of note is that at the time of writing, with the poll having been running since midday on Monday, 204 readers have taken part so far.

Seale, however, warns that going into the fixture with a thought of revenge might cost the Glamour Boys.

"This time it's not gonna be about who you are, I think those days are gone. It's gonna be about who wants it the most," Seale tells KickOff.

"I think it's the first time I beat SuperSport United with more than three goals... I stand to be corrected.

"So, Sundowns doesn't scare me. This thing of people saying Sundowns will end Chiefs' dream of winning the trophy, that doesn't make sense.

"I'm 99.9% sure Kaizer Chiefs will beat Sundowns in the quarterfinal. I watched the boys on Saturday, and compared to all these interim coaches, now [under Nasreddine Nabi] the boys play with confidence and purpose.

"This shouldn't be about revenge though. They can beat us again. As I have mentioned, it's gonna be about who wants it the most.

"It should be about showing that as Chiefs we are capable of turning things around. It's not about revenge. What is revenge in football?" he shares.

Dates, venues and kick-off times for the quarterfinal fixtures are yet to be announced by the PSL.
