The little issue of what happened over the past weekend will be of no significance when the real trophy bell reminder rings at Kaizer Chiefs with the start of the Carling Knockout this week.
Chiefs will spend this week with their ears flooded with talk about their dusty cabinet – which hasn't had any additions since May 2015.

The Carling Knockout provides Nasreddine Nabi his first cup competition opportunity with matters in the Betway Premiership only due to be decided next year.
So long and frustrating has the subject of winning trophies been at Naturena in recent times that they have missed the trophy target on 34 occasions.
They have come short in the league nine times, then MTN8 (seven times), Telkom Knockout (six times) and Nedbank Cup (nine times).

Of note is the fact that throughout this period of their drought, they have come within minutes of winning the league and have been losing finalists in the Champions League, MTN8, Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup.
With the start of the Carling Knockout, Amakhosi might take inspiration from the fact that compared to other domestic cup competitions, their dominance in this competition is guaranteed of remaining under no threat for at least another decade.
The League Cup has been Chiefs' trophy of dominance having won it 13 times, while Mamelodi Sundowns have four as the second-most successful.

Their last success came in 2010 when Vladimir Vermezovic guided them to a famous 3-0 Telkom Knockout final victory over Orlando Pirates.
The side's dominance in the Nedbank Cup is under threat with Pirates on 10, while they are still on 13, while in the MTN8, Bucs have moved to 13 with Chiefs still on 15.
Nabi's men will be the away team against SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday (20:00) when they get going in the Last 16 of this year's Carling Knockout.
