Chiefs’ new coach appointment deadline date set?

With Kaizer Chiefs going through the process of finding the new man to lead their dressing, the most important answer that the crisis ridden club should provide is when the new head coach will take over.

Chiefs have a concoction of problems that have left them clutching at straws as the bite of the trophy drought deepens.

The last two appointments in Arthur Zwane and Molefi Ntseki have bordered on experiments more than on merit while Steve Komphela and Giovanni Solinas were also appointed without having won silverware before on the domestic scene.

Ernst Middendorp, Gavin Hunt, and Stuart Baxter were credible appointments but were all sacked in the end.

As is always the case, the rumour bell has rung loudest with absurd speculation finding its voice with laughable names being linked while credible names have also been mentioned.

While the rumour mill grinds, what matters is when the new technical team will start sorting out the mess that has become of the Chiefs dressing room.

Does new man and his technical team take over during the upcoming November FIFA calendar break?

Or Johnson will be left as caretaker boss until the end of the year and oversee games against Cape Town Spurs, Orlando Pirates, Moroka Swallows, Polokwane City, Richards Bay, and Sekhukhune United?

That way the new coach will have six weeks during the AFCON break to work out the solutions to all the problems that have flooded Naturena.

Alternatively, Johnson will be handed the benefit of doubt to remain in charge until the end of the season before a new man comes in next term.

That way the club will have to defuse the expectations of fans yet again to avoid further incidents of crowd trouble that have been prevalent this season.

AmaKhosi have become a cash cow for the PSL DC with their fines bill piling up with each guilty plea after crowd trouble incidents.

So far, Chiefs have been guarded in their process of hunting down a new man considering the issues that have become the definition of the club.

AmaKhosi have played 332 games (33 editions of different competitions) since they last had a taste of trophy happiness in May 2015 which has irritated their fan base.

Through that time, the Naturena based club has had Steve Komphela, Giovanni Solinas, Ernst Middendorp, Gavin Hunt, Stuart Baxter, Zwane, and Ntseki.

Interim boss – Johnson – doesn't have a convincing record as head coach in the domestic game having lost more games than he has won in his previous jobs at Platinum Stars, SuperSport United, AmaZulu and Black Leopards.
