Kaizer Chiefs might have been going through a rough patch in recent times, but the club's status remains intact as evidenced by how they remain relevant in the Bafana Bafana framework.
Three players from Chiefs – Bruce Bvuma, Given Msimango and Rushwin Dortley – have been selected in the latest squad to face Uganda and South Sudan in AFCON qualifiers to be played September.

The notable selection is that of Dortley, who is yet to play for the side following his move from Cape Town Spurs.
Dortley is a left-footed defender comfortable playing both as a centre-back and at left-back and will give Hugo Broos the balance he desires in that area of the field.
The 22-year-old has yet to play or be called up by Broos with his previous caps having been in the COSAFA squad, which is not coached by the Belgian gaffer.
However, such was his impressive showing at the regional tournament played in Gqeberha that he featured in all three group matches playing at left centre-back as captain and even scored.
Since then, he has moved to the Soweto giants, which has evidently given his chances of breaking into the main Bafana team a further boost.
Being with Amakhosi means a wider audience will be watching him.
Dortley is a firm contender to keep his place in this squad as he is the only natural left footer capable of playing both as a central defender and at left-back.

The Capetonian only has a single season playing top-flight football but has already shown his qualities.
At Chiefs, he stands a good chance of playing regularly with Nabi preferring ball-playing defenders with physical presence.
