Chiefs’ new defender speaks out on game time issues

Inacio Miguel has stepped up to explain his lack of minutes in Girabola last season under Alexandre Santos.

Miguel has been quick to fit at Chiefs after putting in a solid shift on debut in the win against Marumo Gallants but did so after putting up with frustrations at Petro Luanda.

The 28-year-old has arrived at Chiefs after having spent the last 18 months at Petro.

While he won two league titles and the Angolan Cup during that time, Miguel played less than half of the league games last season starting less than 10 games from 28 with Pedro Pinto as first-choice.

The positive was that he played all but one of the 10 matches in the CAF Champions League and was also regularly in the Angolan Cup campaign.

"What can I say, it was the coach's decision," he responds when asked about the lack of minutes in the league.

"And I had to focus on my job and my work.

"Last season, I played a little bit in the league and more in the Champions League as you were saying.

"I cannot control (all of that).

"I can only control my daily work and here I will do the same so what I can say.

"I just have to focus on my daily work and the rest that I cannot control I cannot say anything," says Miguel adding detail to his move to Chiefs.

"I talked to Petro about that I wasn't so happy with the small minutes that I had last season and want to change something and play.

"They spoke to me and said I want to move because I wanted to do something different and not be in a comfort zone," he explains.

In taking up his place at Chiefs, the Angolan will have to cover the leaks that have seen AmaKhosi concede 103 goals in the last three seasons.
