Update issued on Duba injury scare

Kaizer Chiefs striker Wandile Duba, who was stretched off in the second half against Stellenbosch FC having bagged a brace, has provided an update on his fitness situation.

Duba was instrumental in Chiefs' 2-1 win over Stellenbosch FC at FNB Stadium on Wednesday, where he struck twice to help the side move into fifth place on the log table.

The two goals take his tally up to four goals this season, level with Mduduzi Shabalala, and places him two spots behind the league's leading goal scorer Iqraam Rayners, who has netted six times so far.

The 20-year-old was awarded the Man of the Match award for his efforts.

Worryingly for the Khosi Nation, however, is that he was unable to finish the game and had to be stretchered off the field.

While some sections of the support base feared the worst, the attacker has revealed it was only fatigue and he should be ready for the next match.

"I was cramping. I ran too much and I was just cramping," Duba told SuperSport TV.

The Amakhosi development product has featured in every single match in 2024/25 so far, an indication of his importance to head coach Nasreddine Nabi's set-up.

"Yeah, we are getting used to him (Nabi)," Duba said when quizzed about the coach.

"It's just that we have to adjust in every game according to the team we are playing against, but we are getting used to the way he wants us to play."
