Chiefs’ call on Ntwari…

The call on whether Fiacre Ntwari will continue between the posts will be made by Kaizer Chiefs with the Rwandan having now returned to then club.

Ntwari was forced out of Rwanda's 2-1 win over Nigeria on Monday, igniting talk on the possibilities this might pave way for either Brandon Petersen or Bruce Bvuma to get their first minutes of the season.

The lanky goalkeeper hasn't had the best of starts to his time at Chiefs, conceding 11 in the first seven games since joining from TS Galaxy.

His confidence has appeared thin in how he conducts his business between the posts, while his distribution has been questionable.

This week, he has defended himself in the Rwandan daily – The New Times – stating that it is not about him being the problem at Chiefs.

Ntwari added that the issue is that the team is not performing well, admitting that this is all part of the game with the hope that their fortunes will change for the better.

Now, ahead of Wednesday's league match against Richards Bay FC in Polokwane, the Soweto giants have confirmed that the club's medical team will assess Ntwari's injury concern.

Nasreddine Nabi has had his faith in the 25-year-old since arriving from Galaxy at the beginning of this campaign.

Ntwari is one of two players – along Rushwin Dortley – that have played every minute of all games this term.

Worth noting is that he has started 35 games for club and country since the last time that he sat on the bench while at Galaxy in December last year.
