'It wouldn't make sense to defeat Downs, only to lose to Chippa'

An ex-Kaizer Chiefs centre-back has encouraged the team to approach the game against Chippa United with the same determination they showed versus Mamelodi Sundowns.

Following their impressive Nedbank Cup semi-final victory over Sundowns on Sunday, Chiefs are riding high.

They managed to overcome a 1-0 deficit to win 2-1 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, surprising many who expected the home side to prevail.

The Glamour Boys will face Chippa in the league at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Saturday. They sit eighth on the standings, just one point and one spot ahead of the Gqeberha-based outfit.

"The win against Sundowns could signal better things ahea. They really needed a boost like this. Against Chippa, it's crucial to remember that the league is their bread and butter. They can't ease off now and only focus on the Nedbank Cup final later," warns Dominic Isaacs.

"The team should maintain their winning mentality and keep up the momentum. It wouldn’t make sense to defeat Sundowns, only to lose to Chippa.

"They need to secure positive results on Saturday, as it’s essential for Chiefs to finish in the Top Eight. They have two goals right now: achieving a Top Eight position and winning a cup for their supporters," added 'Domza'.

The man who started his career at the famed School of Excellence emphasized that league games should be viewed as preparation for next season by the Naturena-based side.

"These players have their futures at stake. Like every team, Chiefs will make signings, so the players shouldn't believe their spots are secure just because they reached a cup final. They must perform well in these remaining games for their own future."
