'Chiefs have found themselves another Bradley Carnell'

Former Kaizer Chiefs player Sergio Dos Santos, who later coached the club, says Amakhosi should not hesitate in bringing Bradley Cross over to Naturena.

The Golden Arrows left-back, who was turned down by Arthur Zwane at Chiefs when he came for an assessment, has made it back onto the side's radar.

Chiefs are reportedly on the brink of signing Cross from the KwaZulu-Natal-based outfit for R3 million.

This comes after they triggered the buy-out clause in the player's contract with his current employers.

To that end, Dos Santos has backed Cross to overcome what might be his biggest challenge, which is overlapping.

"Bradley Cross was at Maritzburg United before. I also watched him at Arrows. He is solid, strong, and a good tackler. He is the type of player that, with his experience, having come from England and being involved with the U23s, he's a good player," he says, in conversation with KickOff.

"He must be somebody that knows what he is doing, especially when it comes to going forward, as Chiefs need those type of players, especially in the backline.

"If your backline is strong, that helps the process of going forward. That's where you start building. So, I can't see why he shouldn't fit in there.

"Bradley Carnell also came to Chiefs in the past and people were asking a lot of questions if he was a Chiefs type of player. Well, he became a Chiefs player," he adds.

The outspoken former coach says when it comes to the Glamour Boys, because of the style of play and their support base, once a player joins, he automatically becomes a player that starts to discover different ways of playing.

"This player has got the experience from the technicalities of having played in England, so I don't see any problem with him.

"From a defence point of view, he will be very, very good, and now let's see if he can then develop going forward from there, and I have no doubt that he will do.

"Other than that, I think that he is a very good signing. I would say it's a thumbs up, yes, definitely. They might as well have found themselves another Bradley Carnell."
