Dove in predicament at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove has fallen into a difficult situation following the injury that he picked up during off-season in Turkey.

Dove's contract was due to expire on June 30 and he was on his way out when he was recalled just before the start of the COSAFA Cup, where he was set to play for Mozambique.

Upon being told to come back, the option of a further year on his contract was activated and he was on the flight to Turkey.

Unfortunately, disaster then visited when injury struck while in camp, forcing him to return early.

That injury – which could keep him out for the remainder of his contract – has left the player considering his options as he might not play again for the club.

With the 30-year-old not fit, it means Chiefs will not register him ahead of the start of the new season.

This then means the issue of the five players being registered as foreigners then becomes simple with Inacio Miguel (Angola), Fiacre Ntwari (Rwanda), Thatayaone Ditlhokwe (Botswana), Edson Castillo (Venezuela) and Christian Saile Basomboli (DR Congo) taking all available slots.

Gaston Sirino now holds South African permanent residence and so will play as a non-foreigner.
