Dolly’s last payment at Chiefs in ‘Billiat situation’

Keagan Dolly is now walking towards his last salary payment at Kaizer Chiefs still uncertain of his future at the club and faced with a similar situation to what his former teammate Khama Billiat had to endure.

With Chiefs salaries traditionally paid on the 28th of every month, Dolly had his second-last payment last Tuesday.

Based on the current contract which runs up at the end of June, there is one more salary due to Dolly.

The 31-year-old hasn't given Chiefs reason to prioritise his stay at the club with his contract now running up to the last month, just like was the case with Billiat last year.

Dolly has been a top earner at the Soweto giants since his arrival at the club three years ago standing as one of only few players at the side to ever surpass packages of R6 million per year.

That heavy package has unfortunately not been matched by top performances from Dolly, who only played eight games last season throughout a campaign defined by injury.

Worse is that Dolly has no goal to show from the 470 minutes that he played last season.

Ultimately, it has meant 27 games missed by the lad from Westbury.

Dolly has now played 37 matches in the three years that he has spent at Chiefs, where he has a total of 14 goals plus 11 assists.

Just like was the case with Billiat last season, any hope of Dolly remaining at Naturena will have to come with a significant pay cut stretching more than half what he is on now.

Chiefs twice chopped Billiat's package before the former Zimbabwe international decided to walk away unhappy with proceedings on the negotiating table.
