Former Bafana Bafana star Linda "Mercedes Benz" Buthelezi has come down hard as he offers his take on the debate as to who should be given the 'legend' title in South African football.
The former Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfield destroyer says local media is to blame for referring to every former player as a legend.
On Sunday in Bloemfontein, a star-studded Kaizer Chiefs Legends team beat Bloemfontein Celtic Legends 2-1 in an entertaining game.

Buthelezi, who won the 1996 AFCON with Bafana Bafana, says Doctor "16V" Khumalo is the last legend he knows to come from Chiefs.
"The problem started when the media started to call every former player a legend or master," he tells KickOff.
"In England, when you do good work, which is often referred to as excellency, you are called Sir, while in South Africa you are called a Dr.
"When you look at Ace Ntsoelengoe, Diego Maradona, Pele and Lothar Mattheus, they all did a wonderful job.
"Ace Ntsoelengoe used to carry Kaizer Chiefs on his shoulders. He was smart, so he could bring the team together. He was a team player. So, he deserves to be called a legend.
"In South Africa, you score a single goal in a World Cup match and you are called a legend or a master, which is very much the same thing.
"Unfortunately, Kaizer Chiefs never produced any legend after the generation of Doctor Khumalo. He is the only player I know who deserves the legend status.
"After him, Chiefs never had any legend. He is the only legend I know, you can't tell me Jabu Pule [now Mahlangu] is a legend.

"Jabu Pule is amongst the best youngsters who had the potential to end up being a legend, but messed up everything along the way.
"Pule is amongst the best youngsters who donned the Kaizer Chiefs jersey, so you can't call him a legend.
"A legend is somebody who behaved themselves in that environment, but in South Africa, we call anybody a legend."
