Itumeleng Khune's unusual situation of being without a club after Kaizer Chiefs' decision not to offer him an extension has created debate.
Khune is approaching the end of his second month since the expiry of his last playing contract at Chiefs, the only club that that he has ever played for since being promoted in 2004.

As it stands, whatever happens next will not involve the 37-year-old playing for the Soweto giants, where his last appearance was three months ago on the day he was honoured for long service.
"I know that this will be difficult for him to accept, but I think it is time that he accepts that he must retire," states former Free State Stars and AmaZulu FC goalkeeper Pelewe Delamogo.
"He has done great things through his career and ranks amongst the best, if not the best, to ever play in South Africa.
"Khune changed the face of goalkeeping with his distribution, but there comes a time when you must pass on the baton to the next generation.
"How much football has he played in recent years?
"I don't think he has played enough to deserve a contract anywhere else.
"Khune must not spoil all the good that he did all these years by wanting to keep on playing when no one is interested in him anymore.
"If he was still in demand, another club would have taken him by now, but reality is that he is past his best years.
"Chiefs have moved on from Khune and Khune needs to be told the truth about it.
"There always comes a time in life when you have move on instead of holding on until the system starts pushing you out like it is doing now.

"Khune has done enough to remain a favourite for a long time to come and he needs to understand the need to keep that value and honour," details Delamogo.
The former Bafana Bafana number one has played 20 games in the last three years.
