Despite Kaizer Chiefs' recent signings suggesting they have much bigger ambitions for the upcoming season, club legend Derrick Spencer says they should be satisfied with a finish inside the top five of the Betway Premiership standings come May 2025.
Among the new signings at the club is familiar face Njabulo Blom, who rejoins Amakhosi on a season-long loan from parent club St. Louis City, who campaign in the USA's Major League Soccer.

Spencer says bringing the 24-year-old back makes good business sense since he can play as a right-back, centre-back and defensive midfielder.
"The Njabulo Blom signing was necessary. They needed a player like him. His return is good for the team, especially in defence," Spencer shares, speaking to KickOff.
"He is a good player that is going to contribute to the team, though I prefer him as a defender. He is versatile. He can even slot in as a holding midfielder - he also does well in that position. He is a very disciplined player who plays simple football, and he is very hardworking.
"But right now, because our defence is shaky, I would love to see him playing in defence. But knowing Blom, he will fit in, in either position. Having him in your team is like having three different players. He's versatile," says the man who wore the famous Gold and Black jersey between 2004 and 2008.
However, Spencer notes a few concerns, saying as a team, Chiefs still have a long way to go.
"With a new coach coming in, it is not going to be easy at the beginning of the season. We are not going to win the league overnight, it's going to take time.
"Though we are expecting a lot from all the players that have been signed, I believe the coach is still gonna add more players. He is not entirely happy with what he's got right now.

"We're still building this season, so a top five finish will be good. That's what we need to achieve this season, and if they win a trophy, then that's a bonus.
"I don't want to put too much pressure on them because I know it's not going to be easy."
