Legendary former player Abel "Chaklas" Shongwe has put his hands together in applause for how new Kaizer Chiefs fan-favourite Gaston Sirino for a very promising start to life in the famous Gold and Black colours.
Shongwe believes Sirino will be better big recruits from recent memory, such as Khama Billiat and Keagan Dolly.
The Uruguayan delivered a scintillating performance in the side's season opener against Marumo Gallants, immediately engraving his name in the hearts of the Khosi Nation.

"The boy did exceptionally well. Coming from [Mamelodi] Sundowns, joining Chiefs and showing some good touches was impressive compared to the other players we had before, coming from Sundowns," Shongwe says, in a conversation with KickOff."Those Sundowns players never gave Chiefs anything. Yes, it was a first game, but they always say first impressions last. If he can keep on with the same work rate he showed that weekend, I think Sirino is going far.
"Sirino's performance proved he is here to work. As a foreigner, he proved he didn't come to Kaizer Chiefs to add numbers, he came here to compete.
"The number 10 jersey suits him perfectly, that's how a jersey number 10 should play. It's not easy to handle the jersey number 10 when you don't belong in that category," says the ex-midfielder.
Shongwe is of the opinion the tricky player has already proven he will make it at Naturena as long as his teammates continue supporting him as he cannot do it all on his own.
"I don't see him failing at Chiefs. I was happy with his performance, honestly. And to me, he deserved to be Man of the Match. But Bradley Cross did good as well - he reminded me of Howard Freese. I like Cross, he is here to work. He is a clever mlungu.
"Even the Angolan defender, Inacio Miguel Ferreira dos Santos, once he clicks, he is gonna do well, that boy. He will control the back four. I like him.
"We're still lacking up front though. We need to just get a clever striker, then we will be oky. It seems Ranga Chivaviro has left his scoring boots at home. He should go and fetch them," adds the 58-year-old.
The Eswatini native also expresses satisfaction about the job being done by new head coach Nasreddine Nabi thus far.

"He has brought discipline, you can see the players are working, and the fitness level has improved. Going to Turkey ukuyogijima emahlathini kubancedile (to run in the bush has helped them).
"Fitness was our biggest enemy last season. The lack of fitness by our players used to be noticeable. Some of them, their off-the-field behaviour finished them.
"But [under] this disciplinarian, Nabi, there's another dimension in this big brand."
