Who I signed for?
"Remember, I was in the Kaizer Chiefs reserves side; I got promoted. My first loan was to Rabali Blackpool together with Cyril Nzama, Mike Maringa, and Macdonald Mukansi, and after that, I was loaned to Cape Town Spurs.
"I spent about two seasons at Spurs. It was myself and Fortune Koloba."
How did you find out?
"I was called to the Kaizer Chiefs first team by the late Screamer Tshabalala."
Where did you meet?
"I met with Kaizer Motaung in the club's offices. Screamer Tshabalala was also there.
"They were like boy; you are still a bright future ahead of you; this is Kaizer Chiefs; you have to fight for your position. Just do your job we will protect you."
What surprised you?
"To be one of the preferred strikers of such a big team, even though I was naturally a winger. I was surprised to be told what a quality striker I was."
Did you get what you wanted?
"According to my understanding, yes. I got the signing-on fee, which was R20 000; in the nineties, that was not bad."
Did you see out the contract?
"Yes, even though there were loan stints in between. I signed for two years based on the fact that Kaizer Chiefs is Kaizer Chiefs; if you are not doing well, the bench is not a nice thing to be."
What you would change?
"I was just a young boy; I was not wise; I stayed in a rented flat that I was paying for monthly; I wanted my own space.
"That's my regret; I should have asked the club to get a place for me and pay for it. They should have taken over all bills. Remember home was in Klerksdorp. I should have asked for a house.
"So that's what I could change in the negotiations."
