Nabi urged to 'learn from Ertugral'

Ex-Kaizer Chiefs striker Daniel Matsau has issued free advice to their incoming head coach Nasreddine Nabi after the club finally confirmed his appointment on Sunday.

Matsau, who knows the ins and outs of the Glamour Boys dressing room after spending two seasons with the club, says the Tunisian-Belgian should take a leaf out of Muhsin Ertugral's book and start by winning over the dressing room.

"Let's hope the guy is bringing good changes in the team. It's good that his assistants were already here before him, I think that shows he trusts them," Matsau tells KickOff.

"Let's hope for the best, let's hope he brings back the supporters, let's hope he will make us fall in love with the game again because last season we were even scared to watch Chiefs games on television.

"He must learn from Muhsin Ertugral whom we trusted a lot when I was there. We were not scared to speak to him, he was a father-figure to all of us.

"In football, once you win over the dressing room, then nothing will go wrong. If you want the players to love and trust you, that's where you've got to start.

"He should be approachable. Muhsin played with young unknown players, but Kaizer Chiefs supporters liked him. That's because we trusted him. He talked to us daily.

"Nabi must start by winning over the senior players first, he must be the father-figure.

"The only thing Kaizer Chiefs fans want now is the cup. Their only worry at this stage is not winning a cup for nine years.

"I'm sure he will be the hero this season if he can win them at least one trophy. It will mean a lot to them.

"It's good he is bringing his technical team, that's what they do even overseas. That way, there won't be any backstabbing. That's what Pitso Mosimane has been doing."

Chiefs have already released Keagan Dolly, Siyethemba Sithebe, S'fiso Hlanti and Njabulo Ngcobo as they look to bring in new faces in those positions.
