Former Chiefs trialist resurfaces at DStv Premiership rivals

The drive to land a deal in the DStv Premiership has pushed Amansio Joao Pita 'Neymar' Canhembe to train with another club as he remains in the country weighing up his options.

As it stands it seems the desired option of winning a contract at Chiefs has hit a dead end following his assessment last month.

'Neymar' was at Chiefs in December along with Stanley Ratifo, Maurizio Macorig, and Christian Saile Basomboli.

Only Saile has been signed with Ratifo and Macorig returning to their German lower division club.

Being a free agent after cutting ties with Maritimo, the Mozambican has stayed on in Johannesburg and has now been spotted at Sekhukhune United's training grounds in Doornfontein.

At this stage, he has featured in a practice training match, and it is not clear if a contract offer will be tabled.

Earlier this month he had a written contract offer from struggling Moroccan club Olympique Club de Khouribga who are coached by Portuguese coach Ricardo Formosinho.

He didn't take the offer at the time with priority being the DStv Premiership.

The 25-year-old came through the ranks of Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon but didn't break through into the senior team and following a stint with Liga Desportiva de Maputo he then returned to Portugal for a stint with lower division club Sertanense.

He then returned to LD Maputo before playing for the reserve teams of Vitoria Setubal and Maritimo.

Canhembe has already won caps with the Mozambique senior national team in both AFCON and World Cup qualifiers.
